A framework for analysing contextual factors shaping forest-poverty dynamics

Forest and tree-based landscapes represent complex social-ecological systems. In tropical subtropical regions, these are home to hundreds of millions resource-poor people. Gaining a better understanding how contextual factors influence forest-poverty dynamics is essential for the design, targeting implementation effective policy instruments interventions alleviate poverty. this article we present an innovative framework exploring social, economic, political, institutional environmental affecting forestry-poverty dynamics. We use two examples widely used forest management conservation interventions, namely protected areas community forestry, illustrate can take multiple roles in causal chains processes social change landscapes. highlight future research provide more comprehensive contexts shaping dynamics, including elucidating differentiated effects different drivers on outcomes over time.
